Open Court, Balaclava

Keen Planning managed the planning permit process for Open Court, a vibrant six-storey mixed-use building in Balaclava. Challenges from various authorities like Melbourne Water and VicTrack, and impassioned community members were navigated through.

Open Court is more than just a building; it’s a hub of diversity and activity. Designed by WMK Architecture, its features include a food and drink premises, diverse tenancies, and a unique rooftop basketball/pickleball court and urban farm. Adding to its contribution to the Balaclava ex-industrial precinct is a large scale public artwork on the rear of the building and a new pedestrian connection to Balaclava Walk.

Headspace, Kiama

Keen Planning is proud to be an advocate for several organisations which provide community services and mental health support in a number of states throughout Australia.

We are pleased to announce that we have recently secured a Development Approval for the Kiama NSW Headspace, a facility which has been highly anticipated in the community and was funded by the Federal Government.

The need for approval in a tight timeframe was critical and our close communication with Council made the difference.

We look forward to the opening of this highly valued service which is coming soon!
Cornerstone Pizzeria, Coburg
.
We are thrilled to hear that Cornerstone Pizzeria (@cornerstone_coburg) are about to commence construction on the rear dining area we recently secured approval for.

The pizzeria is located in a small commercial strip on Harding Street, Coburg, surrounded by a close knit residential community. Obtaining the approval involved meeting with local residents to ensure that concerns were heard and addressed and the additions improved off-site amenity impacts.

We understand it will be business as usual in the front section of the Restaurant as the additions are being completed, so get down there and try the awesome pizza – we highly recommend it and yes, we’ve tried it!
Mixed use, Bentleigh

We are excited to announce that we have just obtained a planning permit for a six storey mixed use building in the heart of Bentleigh. The building contains a commercial space at ground floor level with 11 apartments above.

Significant redevelopment is occurring in the area and this building will be one of the most distinctive: designed by Peng Peng Architecture, the front facade features battern shading devices in the form of arches. Aside from the practical aspect, these shading devices will add privacy to the apartments and let vegetation grow around them.

The site is tight and the project team worked through some innovative strategies to obtain the result.

Goodstart Rosanna

Keen Planning have represented Goodstart Early Learning on a number of child care centre applications, including most recently in Watsonia, Clarinda and Rosanna.

This particular project attracted significant community interest and negotiations with a number of residents at a VCAT mediation resulted in a planning permit being successfully secured.
.
The Rosanna child care centre has recently opened and we wish the Goodstart team all the best as they commence operations.
