The Project Toria exhibition at the Melbourne School of Design is a thought-provoking showcase that explores the future of Victoria through innovative lenses. As a three-year collaboration between the University of Melbourne and the Architectural Association of London, the exhibition features works from students over this period that tackle and comment on issues such as urban design, climate, food systems, and fashion.

Through animations, sculptures, installations, and soundscapes, Project Toria offers a multi-sensory exploration of how we can better interact with Victoria’s unique environment. Several exhibits critically examine how our use of land, resources, and design can evolve to work with Victoria’s climate and culture rather than against it.

One of the many intriguing exhibits is Too Many Cooks, which displays a number of very Victorian foods, including indigenous edible plants, typical backyard crops and iconic brands like Vegemite. A table setting combines these varieties of foods in unexpected ways to create a uniquely Victorian dining experience.

With its creative, forward-thinking approach, Project Toria is recommended for anyone interested in sustainability, planning and design. The exhibition runs on weekdays in the Dulux Gallery at Melbourne School of Design, University of Melbourne Parkviille, from 11am to 4pm until 25 October.
